Jesus' Lordship in My Life
I grew up in Schuylerville, NY with my mother, father and younger sister, not to mention a lot of extended family living close by. While I was raised having a certainty about the existence of God, and about Christ's deity and authority, I did not begin to understand the blessings of a personal relationship with God until high school. I had no reason to believe that God should have anything but complete control in my life. After all, He was the Creator of the universe! What I didn't understand is that "complete" control meant that He wanted to be involved in more than just my religion. At a Youth For Christ conference sometime during my high school career, I heard a message that challenged me not just to give God the religious part of my life, but to let Him have the authority in every part of my life. It was at that point that I truly began living my life for Christ.

My Time With InterVarsity at Hamilton College/ Deciding to Come on Staff
I entered Hamilton College in 1996 and immediately became involved with the InterVarsity Christian Fellowship on campus. My peers all thought that it was really great that I was so "religious," so devoted to what I believed in, but they had no desire for that to affect their lives in anyway. Being involved in InterVarsity as a student helped me to see my campus with God's eyes, and to understand how much my campus needed Him. I wanted my passion for Jesus to be more than something that was good for me, but I wanted it to be something that was good for my campus. I guess that's why it isn't too much of a surprise that I ended up on InterVarsity staff. For a while, I was convinced I was going to grad school to be a school psychologist. In my senior year I interned under a school psychologist, and I became convinced that school psychology was not where God was calling me. I also began to notice that the gifts I had that made me inclined toward school psychology (working one-on-one with people, helping people grow, etc.) were actually very well suited for InterVarsity staff .

What I do as a Staff Member
I came on InterVarsity staff as an intern in 2000, and accepted a full-time position at Union and Skidmore later that year. As a staff member with InterVarsity, it is my job to come alongside these students and guide them as they seek to serve Christ at Skidmore and Union. Among other activities, I mentor students as they grow as followers of Christ and help students develop their leadership skills and potentials. I help to train and equip students to live out their faith in a place where their faith faces much opposition. I also confront some of that opposition myself as I share the gospel with seeking students. It's an exciting challenge to be involved in God's work on campus!

My Husband
I am married to Jeremy Bailey, a wonderful and supportive man who makes my job of ministering to students possible. Among other gifts and talents, his full time job is developing websites like mine for a company in Albany called SourceOne Network. He is also an active volunteer with the ministry on campus.
